Michaël Roux
About the speaker
Michaël Roux, born in 1966, is a career French diplomat and a graduate of the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (France). Before joining the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in 2002, he worked as a consultant, notably for the European Commission and the World Bank, on projects including the pre-accession of Bulgaria and Romania and various TACIS programmes across Europe, Africa and Asia.
As a career diplomat since 2002, he served as desk officer for the directorate for Africa and the Indian Ocean in Paris, Deputy Head of Mission in Mauritius (2005-2008) and in Ukraine (2008-2012), and Deputy Director for Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean (2012-2016). He was Ambassador of France to the Kyrgyz Republic (2016-2020) and to the Republic of Liberia (2020-2023), and has served as Ambassador for the Eastern Partnership and the Black Sea since 2023.
